ウィスコンシン州副知事， ﾊﾞｰﾊﾞﾗ･ﾛｰトン氏との会見 ３月２１日（日）からウィスコンシン州マディソン市に入り，ﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの研修とマディソン市との連携について協議を行いました。 ２５日（木）には，ウィスコンシン州議事堂を訪れ，バーバラ・ロートン州副知事と会見しました。（昨年会見したドイル州知事は中国出張中で不在） 白亜の議事堂の副知事室にはいると，鮮やかな赤いスーツを身に纏ったスタイリッシュで上品な女性が出迎えてくれました。その貴婦人がバーバラ・ロートン副知事でした。 ロートン副知事とは初めての会見でしたが，副知事は，面瀬とリンカーンのﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄにとても興味を持ってくださり，あいさつもそこそこに，「私は，あなた方のﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄがどのようにして始まり，どのような方向をめざしているかとても興味があります。」と，その経緯について質問をされました。 私の方から「地域の環境を見つめながら探求的に学習することを基盤にリンカーンとITを活用して交流することで環境に対する地球的な視野を育んでいきたい。」というﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの目的やこれまでの経緯を説明すると，副知事はとても感銘を受けた様子で，「これからの未来の教育には是非必要な視点です。この取り組みがウィスコンシン州の他の学校にも広がることを期待しています。私としてもできることは協力したいと思います。」と言うことばをいただきました。 副知事は，面瀬とリンカーンのこの国際的なﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄにとても興味を示し，今後さらに推進し，それぞれの地域で広めていくことを奨励してくれました。（及川幸彦） 州副知事からのメッセージ 帰国後，お礼のメールを送ると，私たちの元に副知事からメールで，メッセージが届きました。 「私は，あなたとあなたの同僚と会って，あなた方が，気仙沼とマディソンの子供たちのために教育の機会を改善し，彼らをより賢明な市民に育てようと創始したこのエキサイティングなプロジェクトの話を聞く機会を，心から楽しみました。私にとって，持続可能な未来を築くためのこのグローバルな共同研究のモデルの創造を支援することは，大変光栄なことになるでしょう。どうか，これからもあなた方の発展について，情報を知らせ続けてください。 敬具 州副知事 バーバラ・ロートン」

We met Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin, Barbara Lawton in Capitol On March 25, we meet the Lieutenant Governor, Barbara Lawton at the Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin. We went to Capitol in Madison to Lieutenant governor's Capitol office at 8:30 a.m. She welcomed us and invited us to her room. At first we said greetings to each other, and then we talk about our MTP project and exchange opinions. Lieutenant Governor was very interested in our project between Lincoln Elementary School and Omose Elementary School. She asked us, "How did you begin this project? What is your purpose?" I mentioned, "We are developing our project as MTP of FMF. Our focus is to foster the sense and interest of each child for local nature or environment through the environmental education on each side at first, and then, we are going to broaden children's global perspectives for environment exchanging and sharing their studies via Internet with children who live upside down on the earth." Lieutenant Governor recognized and admired our collaboration and said, "It is very important points in Education of Future. I hope that the program like yours expands to other schools. She encouraged us and she promised to support us. We had a great time and discussion to promote our 'Global Knowledge Creating Web. Yukihiko Oikawa Message from Lt. ウィスコンシン州教育省訪問 その後，レイク・メノーラの畔にあるウィスコンシン州教育省（DPI)に場所を移し，州の副教育長ジャック・キーン氏やおなじみの国際統括官のマデリン・ユラネックさんを中心に懇談会を持ちました。 DPIの玄関で，マデリンさんが出迎えてくれ，再会を果たしました。マデリンさんの案内で，DPIのオフィスを見学しながら，懇談会の会議室へと向かいました。会議室では，州の副教育長のキーン氏が出迎えてくださいました。キーン氏とも昨年の知事会見の時にお会いしたので２度目の再会となります。 そのキーン氏の司会で懇談会が始まりました。まず，面瀬とリンカーンの双方からそれぞれ，ﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの経過と今後の抱負について話をしました。面瀬小からは，ユネスコセミナーを踏まえ，面瀬のﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄが地域や専門機関（環境研・科学館），教育機関（文科省・ＦＭＦ），国際機関（ﾕﾈｽｺ・国連大学）との連携を深めながら発展していることを説明すると，マデリンさんは，これまでの経過をよく知っているだけに，とても感激すると共に，うらやましいとも言っていました。 また，この席では，小・中・高を通した，地域としての連携も話題に出ました。 帰国後，マディリンさんともメールのやり取りをしましたが，ﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄのマディソン市と気仙沼市との連携発展については，ウィスコンシン州レベルとマディソン市管轄の違いはあるものの，できる限り協力したいとメッセージをいただきました。 また，ベッキーからの情報によれば，マディリンさんもメンバーになっているウィスコンシン州レベルの国際理解教育の研究会で，今度，地元のテレビ局と共同で，面瀬とリンカーンとのＭＴＰﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの特集番組を制作することになったと言うことである。 （及川幸彦） |
We visited D.P.I. We visited the Department of Education of the State from 10:30 a.m. for 1 hour. International Education Supervisor Ms. Madeline Uraneck met us at the door. We had talks with the Assistant State Superintendent of Academic Excellence Mr. Jack Kean and 4 staffpersons. Oikawa explained the environmental education of Omose Elementary School, and Ms. Becky Rosenberg gave supplementary explanation of the measure of the Lincoln Elementary School. From the personnel of the Department of Education, there was a question about the environmental education in a kindergarten or the curriculum of a grade stage. Moreover, even if the method of cooperation in Japan and the United States stuck, the question was made with interest. There is a guidebook of making a curriculum of environmental education and science in Wisconsin. In Japan, since practice of the environmental education based on the scientific technique has not yet rooted, it becomes helpful very much. It was a new surprise at the fullness of the environmental education in Wisconsin. AkiraYamazaki Message from Ms. Madeline Thank you so much for again honoring us with your visit. ウィリアム博士のワークショップ 今年も，ウィスコンシン大学マディソン校のポール・ウィリアムス(Paul Williams)博士にワークショップをしてもらいました。 博士は，FMFの依頼でワシントンでもＭＴＰ参加校の全員に「ファースト・プラント」(Fast Plants)のワークショップを行ったのですが，マディソンに戻って２２日（月）にも，私たち面瀬のメンバーのために，ウィスコンシン大の研究室で主にﾎﾞﾄﾙﾊﾞｲｵﾛｼﾞｰ (Bottle Biology)のレクチャーをしてくださいました。博士の献身的な心遣いと誠実さに，心より感謝と尊敬の念を禁じ得ません。 今回は特にTerrarium (テラリウム）中心でしたが，これをコンポストやｳｫｰﾀｻｲｸﾙのモデルとして，ﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄに取り入れられないか検討しようと思います。 この日のウィリアム博士とのワークショップは，これからのリンカーン小と面瀬小の新たなコラボレーションに新たな可能性を切り開く貴重な機会でした。 （及川幸彦） ポールウィリアムス博士は私達のプロジェクトにとって非常に大切な人の一人です。 退官しているポールウィリアムス博士は特別に大学から研究室を与えられています。 それは、１５０年以上昔にできた古い家です。 私達は、ポールウィリアムス博士のその研究室で大変有効な時間を過ごしました。 そのワークショップは私にとって最も興味深い時間でした。 ポールウィリアムス博士は、ファーストプラントやボトルバイオロジーを通して子供達と共に科学的に考えるという姿勢を私達に教えて頂きました。 また、私達のプロジェクトのためにボトルバイオロジーについて教えていただきました。 その話は大変参考になりました。 このことは、私達のプロジェクトを発展させるに違いありません。 彼の研究室には、研究に関心のある多くの人が集まってきます。 研究者の他、生物に関心のある親子が活動する場所にもなります。 また、研究に必要な物は顕微鏡からフィルムケースに至るまであらゆる物がリサイクルとして 集まってきます。 そしていろいろな情報も集まり，知識が生まれます。 そこは非常に素晴らしい場所です。 私は、その場に居合わせたことを大変光栄に感じました。 （阿部正人） |

日米の食育についてﾃﾞｨｽｶｯｼｮﾝ ２４日（水），昨年１１月に小金澤教授と食教育に調査で訪問した際にも会った，ウィスコンシン大の食教育（ランチシステム）の専門家のサラ・テデスキさんとその上司のジャック・クロッペングバーグ教授と会い，教授の自宅でランチをごちそうになりながら，日米の食教育について情報交換しました。また，この席には，千葉大学からウィスコンシン大に食教育の研究に来ている西山さんも参加し，日米のSchool Lunch（給食）のメニューや調理過程の違いをはじめ，双方の食教育の現状，そして栄養や食の安全性など食に対する考え方の違いなどについてﾃﾞｨｽｶｯｼｮﾝし，今後の食教育の方向性や共同ﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄの可能性について模索しました。 リンカーン小のベッキー先生は，すでに大学（サラ）や地元の農家，給食センターと連携したスクールランチのﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄを行っています。彼女やクレアとしては，持続可能な環境教育には「食教育」は欠かせないとの視点から，今年度のﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄに食教育も絡ませていきたいと考えているようで，私としては面瀬サイドでも現在行っていうる食の学習を発展させてできる限りマッチングしていきたいと考えています。 （及川） |
Discussion of Food Education On Mar. 24, We were invited to lunch at professor Jack's house. We met Dr. Jack Kloppenberg who is professor of University of Wisconsin Madison and Dr. Sara Tedeschi who is also staff of UW Madison there. They are investigating food system and food education in Wisconsin. Having a lunch, we talked about food education of Japan and Wisconsin. Then Dr Nishiyama, who is staying in UW Madison and researching the food education of Wisconsin, joined our meeting. We talked about school Lunch , comparing the lunch system of Japanese and American school. We exchanged information of school lunch of each country, for example, menus, materials, cooking system and budgets. And then we also talked about nutrition and security of food including chemical pollution and genetic recombination. We seeked for possibility of global food education program that fit children of Japanese and American children. Yukihiko OIKAWA |

エネルギー教育のﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄ UW 環境教育ｾﾝﾀｰとの連携 ２３日の夕食には，２月気仙沼で開催したユネスコセミナーにも参加したウィスコンシン大スティーブンスポイント校環境教育センターのジェニー・レーンさんが同僚のスーザン・アーマーさんを連れて130km離れたマディソンまで駆けつけてくれました。どちらもエネルギー教育の専門で特にスーザンさんは大学と学校教育の連携支援の担当者だと言うことで，今年度のリンカーン小の担当教員クレア先生がペアプロジェクトにエネルギーの学習を取り入れたいということなので，コンテンツとして，とてもタイムリーな連携関係ができると期待されます。 加えて，リンカーンとスティーブンスポイントの環境教育センターとのつながりができれば，かねてからの構想している面瀬＝宮教大（環境研）とリンカーン＝ウィスコンシン大（環境教育センター）との国際連携が実現へ向かうことでしょう。（及川） |
Linkage with Center for E.E. of UW Stevens Point, focused on Energy Education Two person came to Madison from Stevens Point to attend a dinner with us. One is Janie Lane who participated in UNESCO seminar that was held in Kesennuma last Feb.. Another is Susan Ermer who is a colleague of Janie. Both of two belong to Center for Environmental Education of UW St. Point and they are specialist of energy education. Since Clare is thinking of promoting energy education in our project of this year, they will be important person for our project and I wish we could expand new collaboration with Center for EE through Energy Education. 日米学校間連携から地域連携へ ｽﾌﾟﾘﾝｸﾞﾊｰﾊﾞｰ中学校の訪問 ３年目を迎えた今回の訪問のもう一つの懸案としては，面瀬＝リンカーンのパートナーシップを中学校・高校と広げ，地域対地域の連携に発展させることでした。 マディソン滞在中にスプリングハーバーミドルスクールを訪問しましたが，その際に環境教育のデイブ・ローパ先生に来年度のＭＴＰ参加を打診しました。彼はﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄに大きな関心を示し，是非一緒に参加したいとの回答を得ました。スプリングハーバーは，環境教育を教育の柱とするマグネットスクールで，デイブ先生も国際会議に出席するほど優れた環境教育の実践家なので，私たちのﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄには最適の学校・人材だと思います。 気仙沼サイドでも，面瀬小に加え，面瀬中学校もＭＴＰ参加の方向ですので，気仙沼・マディソン双方でＭＴＰﾌﾟﾛｼﾞｪｸﾄでの小・中の連携が今年度からスタートできると思います。これに高校が加われば，「地域応募」が実現するのですが，高校については双方とも，ターゲットはあるもののまだ不確定なので，両サイドで調整し，１０月のＭＴＰ2005の応募では，是非小・中・高の地域応募を実現し，地域間の交流連携に発展させようと話し合いました。（及川） |
Linkage with Spring Harbor Middle School A assignment of 3rd year visit is to expand our collaboration of MTP from school level to regional level. So we have to involve a middle school and a high school to our MTP project. During our stay in Madison, we visited Spring Harbor Middle School, which is a magnet school of science and environmental education. We met Mr. Dave Roppa, who was excellent science teacher. He introduced his school and their activities of EE. He showed us the activities of water cycle, water quality, prairie restoration. In particular, the project using space satellite is very exciting. They are all interesting and similar to our project. I proposed he praticipate in our project and I also recommended he should apply to next MTP with Lincoln School.
