Report on visiting the U.S.

Tuesday, March 16, 2004
This year's MTP persons
Masami Ishii (shown on the left) teaches social studies in the High School Department. MSD has a barber class in the department, and he teaches barber practice as well.

Takashi Taki (shown on the middle) participated in last year's MTP as a tech person. This year he's participating as a teacher.

Satoshi Hiroki (shown on the right) is a teacher in the Elementary School Department and has his class of 4th graders. His major subject is social studies. He's participating as a technology coordinator.
An orientation was held at Hilton Narita Airport.
After a check-in, participants were divided into groups for each school level and had discussion about MTP.

We departed from Narita airport.
The snow lay thin on the ground in Chicago.
After a 14-hour-in-economy-class flight, we arrived in Washington, DC. It was raining.
Thursday, March 18, 2004
We did sightseeing in Washington, DC. We went to the White House, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, The Capitol, and the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum.
Friday, March 19, 2004
We spent the day at U.S. Department of Education where a meeting for all the participants between Japan and the U.S. was held. When the meeting was over and we went out to eat dinner, it's already dark.
Saturday, March 20, 2004
We ovserved Arlington Science Focus Elementary School.
Workshops for the MTP participants were held at the school.
Sunday, March 21, 2004
The Pentagon!
We left from Washington, DC.
We arrived at Sarasota in the afternoon.
After dinner, we went to festival. Several products of Oak Park School students were displayed there.
Monday, March 22, 2004
The people at Oak Park School gave us a warm welcome.
We visited University of South Florida. We lectured on differences between JSL and ASL.

We spent time at Oak Park School.
Wednesday, March 24, 2004
An Old Flag Ceremony (US Flag Retirement Ceremony) was held at Oak Park School.
We had an evening walk at Siesta Key Beach.
Thursday, March 25, 2004
We visited Sarasota High School with Angie sensei.
Friday, March 26, 2004
We had a barbecue party at Oak Park School.
Saturday, March 27, 2004
We went to Mote Marine Laboratory.
We saw a baseball game in Sarasota.
Tuesday, March 30, 2004
A debriefing session was held in Tokyo.
