v2.2(2004/6/16)

1. Uploading to the MTP Tomo no Kai (MTP Friends) Server

Having all MTP participants upload on this server will create a record of MTP activities and accomplishments for all participants to share and utilize in future educational activities.
Please be aware that:
-Participant schools MUST upload their activity pages
-Contents will be compiled as an archive and may be publicized and distributed.
-FMF holds the copyrights to this web site.
-The Japanese participants who attended the June Technology Orientation in June are responsible to explain these procedures to the U.S. Traveling Participant from their partner school.

2. Creating Web Pages

-As always, please be careful when handling any student personal information.
-Participants are responsible to create and protect their web page contents and images in accordance with all relevant copyright laws and etiquette.
-Please use proper protocol when burning files on to a CD-ROM. (Use ISO format, Avoid CGI and password settings)
-Do not record several graphic or picture files on one page. When recording several graphic or picture files is necessary, use techniques such as "thumbnailing".

The composition of the directory folder should look like this:
In this example, the FTP account is "mtpdemo".

The yellow portion is the part viewable as an Internet web page.

The URL for this page would be: http://www.fmfmtp.net/~mtpdemo
/mtpdemo /files DO NOT DELETE
/htdocs /bugs_soil
/study_trip
/pair
/others (Optional, per your school's discretion.)

/mtp04
(If your school participated in mtp2003)

/bugs_soil
/study_trip
/pair
/others (Optional, per your school's discretion.)
/Maildir DO NOT DELETE
The pathname for perl is /usr/bin/perl /cgi-bin Create as necessary
* You are free to add to the directory folder.
* Directories that are to be released as Internet web pages should always have an index.html file.
* File names should be typed in only in small caps. Use ONLY the underscore character to separate words. Any other characters (hyphens , question marks, dashes, etc.) will result in errors.
* These pages will be burned onto a CD-ROM for the archive, so use relative addressing for all internal links.
For example: When linking the index.html for htdocs to water.html file of /pair
OK /mtp04/pair/water.html
NG http://www.fmfmtp.net/~schoolname/mtp04/pair/water.html

* External links present no problem

3、Uploading the web page you created

* Upload using FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
* Use the FTP server fmfmtp.net
* Use the user ID (FTP account name) and password assigned to you.
* Always put an index.html file in each directory (folder).
* By default, you are able to view and download other schools' directories, but you are not able to make changes or write on to another school's directory.
* If you wish to prevent other schools from viewing portions of your directory, change the 'htdocs' access right specifications to the 705 pattern.
