On the first day of school the students gathered in the gym to put on a program they had practiced for my arrival to their school. 学校での初日、子どもたちは体育館に集まって、私のために練習をした出し物を見せてくれました。
The first graders sang a song. 一年生は歌を歌いました。
The second grade danced. 二年生は踊りました。
The third grade played an instrument called a Ken-bam, or key harmonica. They learn how to play this instrument in first grade. 三年生は鍵盤ハーモニカという楽器を演奏しました。一年生のときに演奏方法を習います。
They made a wonderful banner above the stage that said, "Ms. Pamela Jones Welcome to Inokuchimyoujin Elementary School". 「ジョーンズ先生、ようこそ井口明神小学校へ」とかいてある素敵な横断幕がステージの上にありました。

	I am giving a lesson on maps and the steps for making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. 地図の授業と、ピーナッツバターとジェリーのサンドイッチを作る授業をしました。
Spreading the peanut butter and jelly mixture onto the bread was fun. ピーナッツバターとジェリーを混ぜたものをパンに塗るのはおもしろいですよ。
	The students were interested in other American foods too. 子どもたちは、アメリカのほかの食べ物にも興味を持っていました。
	Kikuzaki Sensei shows the tops that children play with in Japan. He sits across from my desk at lunch. 菊崎先生が日本の子どもが遊ぶコマを見せてくれました。給食の時間に菊崎先生は私の前に座っています。
