SHICHI GO SAN is the festival in which parents celebrate when their children become three, five and seven years old.
It began in Heian era, about 1,200 years ago.
In those days a lot of young children died of disease.
Parents thank to God for their survival.
Nowadays, children dress up beautifully when they celebrate SHICHI GO SAN. Boys wear kimono & hakama or a suit, girls wear a long-sleeve kimono or a dress.
They go to the shrine, the shrine priest bless them and gives them chitoseame (a kind of candy).
