On the first day of school the students gathered in the gym to put on a program they had practiced for my arrival to their school.
The first graders sang a song.
The second grade danced.
The third grade played an instrument called a Ken-bam, or key harmonica. They learn how to play this instrument in first grade.
They made a wonderful banner above the stage that said, "Ms. Pamela Jones Welcome to Inokuchimyoujin Elementary School".

	I am giving a lesson on maps and the steps for making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Spreading the peanut butter and jelly mixture onto the bread was fun.
	The students were interested in other American foods too.
	Kikuzaki Sensei shows the tops that children play with in Japan. He sits across from my desk at lunch.
Hirai Sensei`s class is busy working on a map activity. They are finding Pickens County and coloring it red.
