Bug Collection Fall 2005
Updated Wednesday, March 16, 2005
To study bugs, we set three levels of traps. To catch underground bugs, we placed a cup of water in a hole below ground level. To catch crawling bugs, we placed a weighted piece of honey soaked paper on the ground. To catch flying bugs, we put an inflated balloon in a sock, tied it to a tree and spread it with honey.
We collected ants, gnats, wasps, box elder bugs, a praying mantis, Asian beetles and worms. We observed the gnats, ants and beetles under the computer microscope.
